Here Comes the Rain Again

Rain is generally looked upon as a nuisance, a miserable stepsister of sunny weather and a hindrance to all outdoor activites. I – as a firm believer of the “we are not made of sugar” principle – beg to differ. Rain can add a whole new dimension to a walk in the forest – if you can look past of its obvious side effect of getting soaked and muddy.
The rain today started out as a downpour then softened into a mild shower, reminding me of those occasions in the rainforest, when you cannot really tell if it is still raining or it’s just the raindrops falling from the leaves. When everything looks fresh and glowing.

A Daily Dose of Forest

It is like a drug. I crave it, count the hours till I can get there, and when I finally get there, I get this immediate sense of relief. It has a mind-altering (or at least mood-altering) effect on me. Maybe it is just the excess oxygen. Or the explosion of colours – the vibrant greens and yellows, the more reserved purple and white against the blue background.

The forest is now like an impressionist painting – like somebody smudged a lot  of green in the middle.
